On the Good Ship Beowulf
King Piram of Breg
King (Duke) of Breg and Balig.
Piram nearly succeeded in conquering Avalon as the leading contender for the throne prior to Elaine’s appearance. He bent his knee under extreme protest and is the only Duke to insist on his line’s claim to the title of King (in the pre-Montaigne sense) in its own right. He maintains a large private army in defiance of the Queen’s edict, apparently for defence against future Montaigne invasions, and rules the neighbouring duchy of Balig through his vassal, Earl Conon.
Piram is a tall man with dark hair tinted with silver. He remains a powerful and skilled warrior despite his advanced age.
